This is a high quality artist and woodworker's pencil. The spring loaded four-jaw collet at the tip firmly holds a standard 5.6mm lead (about 7/32" diam. x 3 1/4" long). Pressing the top of the pencil will open the collet enabling you to adjust the position of the lead. One HB hardness lead comes standard. Both HB and 4B replacement leads are available as is a colored lead assortment. The top plunger cap unscrews and contains a built-in sharpener to keep your point sharp.
The body of this pictured pencil is made of Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii), a vivid red-orange colored wood from Central and West Africa. The tree grows 100 feet tall and is 2 to 4 feet in diameter at the base. Its color makes it very popular as accent wood in fine furniture and craft objects as well as in veneers.
