This unique pen consists of a real .308 Winchester cartridge that has been engraved with the U.S. Air Force logo. The cartridge is an officially licensed product, Department of the Air Force. The copper bullet tip has been drilled to accommodate a Cross-style refill. The upper half of this pen is crafted out of blue lapis Tru-Stone. This man-made material composed of 85% natural stone ore that has been pulverized to a powder then mixed with pigments and acrylic resin. The result is a substance that looks and feels like natural stone, but can be turned on a lathe. After turning and sanding, the Tru-stone is polished to a high gloss. The gold veining of the blue lapis is picked up by the gold plating on the clip and finial. This pen was further personalized with two lines of custom engraving opposite the Air Force logo.
The writing tip is exposed by twisting the top half of the pen to the right. The Cross-style refill can be replaced by pulling the top half of the pen off of the bottom half. The refill can then be unscrewed for exchange.
