This Acadia Twist Pen is handcrafted from rich Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa), a wood native to Central America's Pacific Coast uplands. This wood is very dense, weighing almost twice as much as Cherry. Because of it's weight, it did not become popular in woodworking until the Panama Canal opened, allowing for easy shipping. It is now valued for use in fine furniture and cabinetry. Musical instruments and custom pool cues are often created from this wood. The wood is very durable has a variety of hues ranging from dark reddish brown, as seen in this pen. This is said to be one of the most popular woods for pens. To protect the wood, the pen is finished in over 12 coats of durable cyanoacrylate finish that have been polished to a lustrous shine. Bright chromium-plated trim complements the rich wood. The writing tip can be exposed by twisting the upper body of the pen relative to the lower section, in either direction. This pen measures 5.4 inches in length and weighs 1.3 ounces. The maximum pen diameter is 0.5 inches.

This pen uses readily available Parker-style ink refills. The ink cartridge can be accessed by unscrewing the

upper body of the pen from the lower section. Included with the pen is a premium EasyFLOW 9000 ink cartridge,

manufactured by the Schmidt company in Germany. I have found this to be the finest Parker-style ink refill

available.
