This Vicksburg twist pen is medium size pen. It is an up-sized version of the slimline with distinctive beading on the centerband and a domed finial. The body of this pen is made of Purpleheart (Peltogyne, which includes over 20 different species. Also known as Amaranth and Violet wood among many other names.). Purpleheart is a large tree found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. After being cut, this wood turns a purple color. This color may darken with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Because of it's striking color, this wood is often used in decorative applications, including furniture and flooring. Bright chromium trim complements the purple wood.
This pen uses readily available Cross-style ink refills. The tip of the refill is extended and retracted by twisting the upper body.The ink cartridge can be accessed by pulling the top half of the pen off and unscrewing the Cross-style refill from the transmission.
